Walking down the memory lane: The Grand Alumni Meet of Pearl 2018
Does the thought of meeting your class rival, your long-standing best friend or those beloved college teachers give you goosebumps? If yes, then you belong to the tribe called – Alumni. An alumni meet is a way to re-establish some of the long-forgotten connections, besides having to discover how fellow batch-mates have progressed in their respective lives. These meets are brimmed with an unlimited fervor of emotions, love, and laughter. Similar was the sight at Pearl Academy’s Grand Alumni Meet 2018. Nostalgia was at its peak on a bright sunny Sunday. Dressed in their best attires, teachers and alumni were busy greeting each other. Exchanging the broad smiles, the students were reliving all the hangout spots, the classroom chit-chats, the never-ending assignments and what not. The customary cake cutting ceremony was followed by a sumptuous lunch and drinks for all. The tempo of the day was raised to another level with the old-school hits.
Pearl Academy has over the time established a legacy and has given the fashion industry talented and young leaders of tomorrow. Talking about the journey and immense growth of the organization, Sharmila Katre, Head Academic Development Office said, “It has been amazing to see where Pearl Academy has reached from the time it started in 1993. Besides emphasizing on curriculum and courses structures, the management also put an extensive thought on the development of faculty, which helped us stay ahead.”
On what makes Pearl different from other fashion and design schools, Vasundhara Khanna, who pursued a degree in Communication Design from the institution, said “The kind of exposure you get over here in Pearl is tremendous. No other college has it. I have done my masters from the academy, not to mention my graduation days were comparatively a bit uninspiring. I wish I had done my graduation from here as this institution is not only about the exposure you get, but also how it prepares you for the future.” She further added, “A lot of people and youngsters have a misconception that Pearl is only about fashion designing, but we have so many good courses here.”
Another alumnus spoke about the supporting staff of Pearl, “The staff here is amicable. They support you with all the ups and downs. We always had a good relationship with the teachers. They give you immense confidence to start up your brand, and that is what I have done,” said Aakriti who is a fashion designer and a graduate from Pearl.
Eminent names from the fashion industry, like Nikhil, of Shantanu and Nikhil fame – who is also an alumnus, graced the event with his presence. A sound association with Pearl is an achievement asserted, Sharad Mehra, CEO, Laureate India. He further expressed, “It has been an immense pleasure to be associated with a brand that has become such a notable force in the industry.”
The day came to an end with the best wishes being extended to the students from their beloved teachers. Getting themselves clicked with their batch-mates and teachers, the broad smiles on every alumni’s face was the evidence of the wonderful time they have spent at Pearl Academy.
