The Academy recently collaborated with the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival (KGAF) as Festival Design Partner hosting an installation – ‘Confluence’, a larger than life Canvas Wall and a stupendous Fashion Show by the renowned and talented alumni of the Academy. The fashion show was attended by bollywood actor Sonu Sood and fashion designer Rocky S. The Academy also announced Full Scholarship for any BA (H) Program and an all-expense paid-trip to Santa Fe Art Fest at Santa Fe University of Art and Design (SFUAD) in US to the 10 most creative minds of India aspiring to be a part of creative businesses in the future.

Renowned fashion designer and Pearl Academy’s alumnus Vaishali Shadangule, whose collection was also sashayed by the models during the fashion show, said, “It was a great learning experience at Pearl Academy. It’s my pleasure today to showcase my collection here at Kala Ghoda for an institution which has the potential to produce best of the Indian designers.”
The installation – ‘Confluence’ was conceptualized to reflect upon the identity of Pearl Academy that has produced many design innovators, entrepreneurs working with the industry in this glocal world. And, the ‘Canvas Wall’ was the product of Pearlites’ passion which reflected some moments from the festival and some from the city with a touch of Pearl Academy in that.
The magnificent fashion show was put together by 22 alumni of Pearl Academy and was orchestrated by choreographer Achla Sachdev. Overall, the show was based on a central theme ‘Sparsh’. The audience witnessed 60 garments made by Ex-Pearlites under three broad themes – Steel Magnolias, Nomadic Drift and Tokyo Drift. The fashion show had fresh concepts that are futuristic and trendsetting; it showcased budding design leaders of Pearl Academy who are also socially responsible and want to make the world their stage.
But the Surprise element of the entire fashion show was that one major announcement that will change the lives of 10 students – the Full Scholarship for any BA (H) Program and an all-expense paid-trip to Santa Fe Art Fest. To win the scholarship, the student must be a resident of India, should have completed class 12th by June 15, 2015, and should have qualified the Pearl Entrance exam.
