Times they are a changing – the song by Simon & Garfunkel was no doubt one of the most inspiring artistic creations of the last century. However, the song holds more importance in today’s times. Humans, in their quest for prosperity and growth, have neglected and most evidently ill-treated the nature. As a result, the environment has become incapable of handling climate change – that will soon lead to catastrophic habitat.
Hence, as an ode to 25 years of nurturing creative mind, Pearl Academy hosted its ‘Quarter Century Scholarship’. The theme – efficient use of ‘Technology’ that can play an essential role in areas such as pollution, corruption, safety and security, stress, play, sustainability and fashion. The pan India scholarship test, hosted on 18th November, saw more than 3000 curious minds come forth to different test centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Noida, Dehradun, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Pune, Kolkata, Bengaluru, Cochin.
A concoction of fresh, unbiased ideas
Students from all walks of life – from diverse backgrounds like arts, commerce and science – came together to showcase their thoughts, inspirations and opinions in the form of paintings, projects and designs.
An excited student expressed, ‘I can see the climate change, and I can see very few people out there concerned about it. I want to bring change to the society through my sustainable designs. I aspire to recycle various products to make new products that help in bringing down carbon footprints.’ Another participant stressed on the need for smart cities through his project. His design laid stress on the need for renewable resources and how communities can come together to become smart in bringing about a change in the society.
The energy, enthusiasm and enigma brought together at the test centres were inspiring in more ways than one. As the students sat in examination centres, curious parents waited in anticipation. One such parent rejoiced by saying, ‘I am proud of the fact the younger generation is taking cognisance of climate change because the phenomenon is real. The fact that an institution is evoking such interests in students from a young age speaks highly of the institution’s commitment and thought the process to bring a change.
Such was the positivity and liveliness brought together at all test centres where thoughts, emotions and cause came along for a real issue faced by humans.
