The Textile Design Programme balances its focus between the development of the creativity and technical skills as a designer. This programme concentrates on the fusion of creativity, craft skills and technological innovation, with students being encouraged to stretch the boundaries of the discipline through their creative engagement with materials, processes and concepts.
In the due course of 4 years the learner is encouraged to explore and create a body of practical work to develop personal approach to textiles. Lectures, live demonstrations, seminars and tutorials with a range of exciting industry and international exposure provide constant sources of inspiration.
The programme encourages innovation and entrepreneur- ship in sectors of national/ international craft, exports and retail industry. The students are inculcated with strong color sensibilities, clean yet bold aesthetics, and practicality with commercial viability. Ideas experimentation, problem solving and reflection are the key skills that are nurtured throughout the programme and will compliment development of your specialist skills in surface or structurally constructed textiles.
A specialist line in Fashion apparels will let students explore their creativity in fabric development for different cuts and styles, surface ornamentation, drape and fall of fabrics deciding the overall look of the garment. Whereas the specialism in Fashion home furnishings will let students ideate their designs to develop fabrics and products for all type of indoor and outdoor interiors including home, office, hotel, automobile, lounge etc.
Both the specialist lines will give a base foundation to initiate idea, create design and develop products. Also both the lines will be based on a sound knowledge of Textile and Fashion business for making the students ready to work as a team.
Employment prospects
This programme enables an individual to develop practical textiles skills across a broad range of traditional and new textiles processes. All Textile graduates are placed well with renowned national / international industries such as Zandra Rhodes, NEXT, Donghia International, Floreal International, Catmoss, Arvind Mills, Welspun, Bombay Dyeing or set up their own businesses as entrepreneurs.
