Pearlites Against Gender Based Violence - Pearl Academy

«Pearl Academy partners with WEvolve’s global campaign to create awareness and drive social change on Gender base Violence (GBV)»

We are proud to join hands with WEvolve to spread awareness on Gender based Violence through multiple student driven and participative activities PAN India. Marking the beginning of this partnership, a T-Shirt Design competition was organized by the Academy and WEvolve which churned out innovative designs conceptualized by some of the talented Pearlites across 4 campuses in New Delhi, Noida, Jaipur and Mumbai.

The winners of the competition were announced today at hotel Palladium in Mumbai during the official launch of the WEvolve campaign in India.

Sharad Mehra, CEO, Pearl Academy, said, “Pearl Academy is proud to be a partner of WEvolve. This global campaign is a much needed initiative to bring people together to address, challenge and break through the prevailing norms that underpin gender violence globally. The younger generation can be a catalyst in this process; their conditioning and participation is must for a better tomorrow. The T-Shirt design competition was just the beginning of our partnership with WEvolve. We have many more activities planned to contribute towards the cause.”

Maria Correia, gender expert at the World Bank, a WEvolve founding partner, said, “WEvolve is a collaborative effort, involving many partners. We will work with young men and women to change gender norms that lead to gender-based violence, and we will partner with the creative industries to identify innovative solutions to this intractable issue. We are very pleased to have Pearl Academy as our partner and wish to congratulate the winners of the t-shirt contest – Rituparna Bhattacharjee, Rinkle Paresh Chheda, Riya Ranchhod Patel and Rajni Maallah, and look forward to continuing this partnership.

The competition winners were chosen by the WEvolve team from several entries sent by the students of Pearl Academy. Whether winners or not, the journey of creating the designs was enlightening for each Pearlite as the student delved deeper into the issue of GBV and it’s impact on the society. WEvolve rewarded the winning designs by printing those on T-Shirts and giving as a souvenier at the launch event to the attendees.
