SAANIYA ABBAS, The creative genius!

SAANIYA ABBAS, The creative genius!

There comes a point when you find what you’ve always searched for – a sense of purpose, when every fiber of your body screams out – THIS IS IT!! This is what you were born to do. Very few have the fortune of finding their true calling and doing what they love.

For me a great design is that which is understood and respected by consumers – mainly because it respects and understands them equally. As designers we must be able to relate to consumers, know where they’ve been, understand the battles they fight and create an emotional connection between them and a product/service/movement. I understand that they need to feel the change.

I am a product of Communication Design in Pearl Academy and I’ve been packaged meticulously. I understand the importance of research and design process, and I have been guided by only the best. I am extremely grateful to our faculty for their patience and faith in me and I love my classmates for making this journey unforgettable. Thank you Pearl: I now eat, breathe and live design.

Congratulations CD 2012, WE DID IT!!!

Communication designers examine the social and cultural ramifications of communication, I believe it is an art of persuasion by creating compelling messages, narrating them in meaningful ways and crafting strategies to broadcast them to the world.

I like ideas, and i like to see people empowered by information. I understand the nuances of words, and the power of story telling. My objective here is to create or cover assignments that are possible yet unlikely, intrinsically entertaining and unforgettable.

BANJARA – Apurva Agarwal

BANJARA – Apurva Agarwal

“Banjara” the care free tribal of India, from attires to actuaries, they reflect our unstained attitudes so my collection is couture for autumn winter. I tried to inculcate the power of expression and I am glad to take Banjaras as my theme for this season.

Banjara depicts self obsession, rudeness and breaks all rules, realistic, hard working, ‘selfish for some and selfish for everyone’ and they have their own defined world. With constant efforts and understanding of their culture, spending time and sharing experience helped me to know them better.

I have done the surface ornamentation through tie-die and 3D effects. I am going to play with variety of thick and thin yarn, felt, lace, layering, fluting, pleating. I have explored the variety of trims in different shapes and colours. My fabrics are specking about rustic look.

SCUBA TO MARINA TRENCH – Bhumika Gulati

SCUBA TO MARINA TRENCH – Bhumika Gulati

The giant lobsters in stunning red; the unimpeachable turtle with the wedges, the alluring edifice to the octopus and the capaciousness of the ray fish, all squatting on the sea bed. The collection – ‘Scuba to Marina Trench’ – has used mysterious colors of the deep blue sea and accessorized the ensembles with ‘colours of the creatures’ creating a glamorous and chic look with a pinch of punk.

Hand embroideries, layers, drapes, gathers and pleates have been combined to depict different textures. The shiny glazed cottong, flimsy chiffons, drapes in silk knits and soft rayon depicting the rays of the sun that filter through to kiss the deepest blue.

IT HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA by Sakshi Jain

IT HAPPENS ONLY IN INDIA by Sakshi Jain

As we have grown up seeing ‘jugaad’ in our day to day life, which the designer believes is about a new model of innovation based on constraints.

The look is brought together with up cycled old denim jeans and old silk saris making a way for quirky and playful silhouettes. Stimulated by the distinctive color aura of India, the color story ranges from deep pin, turmeric yellow, henna green to array of purples and hues of denims.

E.VA by Kanika Seth

E.VA by Kanika Seth

Inspired by the very intriguing and visually brilliant movie ‘Avatar’, the collection revolves around creating a new self avatar, and thus catapulting the ‘self’ into the deeper recesses of perspective and looking at world anew.

The garments move on body contouring line at works, moving into one another from texture to panels; lines tend to create a sense of perspective and movements. Texturing stimulates a key told as the EVA (rubber) sheet plays and mingles with soft corded textures. Playful colors run through highlighted black block print.

MIXOOGLE by Devika Malik

MIXOOGLE by Devika Malik

Four years of my college life have made me fall in love with design! Developing a strong inclination towards motion graphics and print media, I have enjoyed the diversity; both in the type of projects and the roles I filled in each.

Savoring creativity and classical music, fascinated by comic books and movies I believe that enjoyment is what makes the most lasting impression on any given project. As a budding communication designer, I try not to limit myself to any one school of thought. I like to explore as many options for a project as possible and choose the one that best fits the function. For me, a well thought out strategy is what yields the best results, thereby creating a memorable experience with the utmost impact.
