Pearl Utsav, an annual event hosted by Pearl Academy of Fashion to serve as a platform for demonstrating students’ talent in music, drama, dance and other performing arts, will be held on Monday, 27 February 2012 at Talkatora Stadium.
The event aims to give students from different cultures and disciplines an opportunity to come together, interact, experience and learn from each other. Pearl Utsav celebrates the spirit of togetherness.
The Utsav will start with Intercollegiate competitions (Pandora Box, Quick Snack Making, Blind –Fold Painting, Cellphone Photography and Minute Mobile Movie Making) in the morning followed by a performing arts presentation by PAF students.
Participation is open to students from Delhi University colleges like Miranda House , JMC, KMC, Bhagat Singh, Gargi, Kamla Nehru etc. Students can participate in cultural activities in morning competitions or be part of the cultural performances in the evening. The event is an open fest for colleges across Delhi and offers a unique platform for students to come together and showcase their creativity and meet like-minded people.
Leveraging on Pearl Academy of Fashion’s global linkages, city’s design aspirants today got insights on international design trends at a student counseling and training workshop on the growth opportunities in luxury brands and fashion & lifestyle E- commerce industry.
Ms Orietta Pelizzari of Mattori Studio- an expert in fashion & design forecast and product development; and Course Leader at Italy’s leading design school- NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti Milano), guided students on opportunities across design industry, including fashion apparel, accessories design, textile forecasting, footwear and leather goods. She interacted with students on the evolution of global luxury industry, future of luxury in countries like India and the upcoming trends and prospects in fashion E- commerce.
The focus of the workshop was to give curriculum specific briefs to students with special emphasis on post-study placements and job opportunities across various segments in the fashion & design industry. Pearl Academy has recently announced the launch of 1 year professional courses in Fashion and Lifestyle E- commerce and Luxury Brands.
Ms. Orietta Pelizzari said “The new age consumer spends a considerable amount of his income on fashion, hospitality, food, designs, outing & cars. Companies across the globe are investing heavily in the luxury sector- Bags, shoes, jewels, watches, perfumes, cosmetics etc.”
She further added “With the advent of online shopping portals, customers have convenient access to products across various categories and brands. Another notable trend in luxury market is that the men’s market is out-performing women’s market across numerous categories. In conclusion, we can say the demand for luxury goods is huge and the market is growing at a rapid rate with emerging markets playing a fundamental role in the growth.”
Pearl Academy of Fashion is affiliated to various reputed institutes like Domus, NABA, NTU, amongst a network of over 50 global institutes, which facilitates participation of students in exchange programs each year. Recently, PAF also announced five scholarships to NABA for the top scorers at their newly launched campus in Noida.

In his welcome address, Dr AKG Nair said that the high rank PAF occupies among fashion & design schools is not merely an indicator of its incessantly growing performance and popularity; but it also indicates the deep and constant commitment to improvise in institute’s organizational practices and contribution to the fashion and design fraternities.
Mr Neil T Gorman, Vice-Chancellor, Nottingham Trent University said, “I strongly believe that any top institute is known for its quality of its faculty and students. Convocation 2011 ended on a high note with students throwing their graduation caps in the air, beaming eyes looking forward to yet another challenging phase of their lives and enjoying the camaraderie of fellow students & faculty members.
